Potential to Career! Testimonials:

Strong relationship-building is what comes to mind when I think about Adam. I had the pleasure of working with Adam on my transitioning into Business Analysis. He’s guidance was essential in developing a great resume for my job search. I was particularly impressed by Adam’s analogy of a digital marketing scenario to describe the candidate-recruiter relationship, at a low-level. This, for me, demonstrated a strong ability to develop Use Case scenarios – essential for any successful BA. And he always asked if I was making progress. As a BA, Adam earns my highest recommendation. He’d be an asset to any team.

Who is Adam Haesler?

Potential Generator

Adam Haesler

After doing a degree in Microbiology at University of Guelph, I had my mind set, on professorship.  3 years of working in a laboratory, I knew I did not want to do another 4-6 more years to become a professor; I just knew for sure I wanted to teach.  I needed to make money, as I was not surviving.  Thus, I hopped into customer service.  Problem solved right?  I loved learning the processes and systems, but I did not enjoy the repetitive nature.  So I figured, why not open my own business building systems/processes for all the small business owners, but I was always reaching a maximum workload, that did not pay the bills.  I refused to give up!!!  I was frustrated and stuck!  And then I discovered business analysis! Or it found me!  I spent about 2 years of working on getting experience, in my customer service position, in anyway I could.  I would take on any project up for grabs, where most would moan and groan, I would be delighted.  Also, I advanced my education on techniques like data modeling, process modeling, and use cases through course work.  Then after much nervous hesitation, I did it, I said enough is enough, start sending out applications!!!  Now this was not an easy process, my resume was a disaster, and so I took a course on how to make it project based.  I would trial and error through variations of cover letter and resume.  I was applying to three to as many as ten positions a week.  It was a labour of love, but it meant I was up at the crack of dawn to complete, and submit at least one application before work, and another two after work.  Thing was, I would not get any response, I was beyond frustrated!!  Then I realized how the famous quote from Albert Einstein on the definition of insanity passed through my life again (if you do not know it, I would suggest looking it up).  It was at that moment I knew I needed to try something else.  I found a new board for positions online, focussed on the Startup community only, and the first position I applied for resulted in landing the position!!!  I did it, I found my first position as a Business Analyst!    3 months into my first Business Analyst position I had been let go, due to poor fit, unfortunate, but sometimes these things happen.  I knew I wanted to get another Business Analyst position, but I also knew I wanted to give back to others trying to make a career change.   Thus, I started Being a Biz Analyst, helping aspiring Business Analysts to create a plan towards their dream position, to experience more joy without the confusion in career changes.
